Norma Madeline DeYarmon Van Horn, age 88, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly of Cleveland, Georgia, passed away on July 31, 2008, at her home in Palm Coast, Florida. She was born in Dillonville, Ohio, November 11, 1919, to the late Charles and Bessie Eloda DeYarmon.
Norma was a member of Anastasia Baptist Church of St. Augustine. She retired as Vice President of Osceola Federal Bank in Kissimmee, Florida and was a well-known doll and basket maker throughout Georgia and Florida, She had her own studio in Cleveland, Georgia where she taught classes in basket and doll making. Norma was one of the founding members of the Northeast Georgia Weaver's Guild. Her love of life will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Herbert O. Van Horn; and two daughters, Margie Ann Ankrom (Bova) and Barbara Jean Gallagher (Mike), both of Palm Coast; four grandchildren, Christina Henson and Bo Ankrom of Palm Coast and Derek Fowkes of Athens, Georgia and Herb Ankrom of Los Angeles, California; and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will take place at Craig-Flagler Palms Funeral Home, 511 Old Kings Road South, Flagler Beach at 11:00 AM Monday, August 4, 2008. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until service time.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are asked to be sent to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129 or the Anastasia Baptist Church Building Fund in Norma's name, 1650 A1A South, St. Augustine, FL 32080.
